Just about to take the plunge and get a new desktop PC. Long overdue and a rather large undertaking for the wallet. Any opinions or comments on this setup before I go for it? Am I making good choices or wasting money anywhere? Quite a beast i reckon:
PROCESSOR: Intel Core i7-860
COOLER: Arctic Cooling Freezer Xtreme (rev. 2)
MOTHERBOARD: Asus P7H55 - Intel H55
HARDDRIVE: Samsung SpinPoint F3 - 1TB
RAM: 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1066
GRAPHICS CARD: EVGA GeForce GTX 480 1.53GB, PCI-E
OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit OEM
I'll be using my MOTU Traveler soundcard with it.
Planning to use it for music making and general home/office use.
Cheers, much appreciated.

Samsung/LG/Asus are good quality and good Value, Dell also..
Sony are good quality, nicely designed, 4 times the price of the above
If i were replacing my old hand me down Dell CRT's today i'd go get a couple of Samung 23" widescreen,
right now 22"/23" are good price/performance ratio..
3 year warranty is standard,
Cheers! SDM

I was thinking of getting one of these: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Acer-P225HQ-21- ... 692&sr=1-1
Those Samsungs look good though. I have a 42" Samsung TV which is great.

Hi Clubfoot, Spec seems kewl! Power Extreme
I would say replace the cooler of choice with something quiet and add a fan controller.... so you can adjust the speed of the fans to low level noise mode !
here's a list of best rated by "cooling ability" list on Silentpc
http://www.silentpcreview.com/Recommended_Heatsinks (bottom of the page is the list)
and speaking a fans, make sure you get a case with a 120mm fan duct in the back for good cooling again run on an adjustable fan control (IE Zalman Fanmate or similar)
i scoped your GPU nice, NO FAN!
All the info you might need can be found in the tested/recommended section over on silentpcreview.. !

Check their stuff and you'll have yourself a quiet as well as powerful unit !
Best, SDM
