Marek Hemman productions

Post by Opuswerk »

I'm really into the atmosphere this one lad manages to build, very summery, yet still deep and simple in the arrangement.
I've been looking for some interviews of him, or what-nots where he'd describe his producing process, but there's not much even almost no info on that.
Maybe someone who may know could shed some light on this very interesting personage?
Seems like there's a lot of guitar work in there ( which seems like the ultimate tool for summery/deep sounds ) and almost always the same synth for basses. The drums also sound very similar from track to track, so i believe he might be using a drum-machine too. no idea which one though...

For those who don't know him: http://www.marekhemmann.de/

This isn't meant as a how to sound like marek hemann thread, rather a discussion on his sound....

maybe i'm too much of a fan boy ?

808 kicks, chopped up loops/samples (especially of guitars) Quality reverbs and delays are some of the elements I'm hearing.

Really loving this. Nice and simple, few elements but still amazing.

I remember that older website he had. Also with quite a few very nice livesets. I must say i didn't expect him to be as much a hardware guy.
Those guitar bits mentioned above i was also wondering wether he was playing them or if he was picking samples here and there....

He's coming to play at a friend's party next week, I'll ask him. Great producer soundwise, not always into his tracks but his sound quality is unquestionably solid. And his livesets are amazing.

thx.
Same here about his tracks, but they always have a something that gels really well. Very melodic, without being trancy, sometimes even disco. would've loved to be there :S maybe next time ;)
Please also drop hima line about how he builds his livesets. Seems he only comes with a computer and a uc33 to gigs.
