TEAC A3340S Questions.

Post by victorgonzales »

Just got this for free today. Was told it is in perfect working condition.

Just curious if any of you guys use these things or if there even IS a modern use for it or any cool tricks or tips with using tape. Im not a hardware guy just seeing if I can use this for anything or if I should EBay it.

Also where the hell can I buy new tape for one of these?

Dude, your mixes just got a whole lot warmer.

Check out the speed, the size of the tape and how many tracks it has. You may be in luck for some tape compression (drools).

Pole says his tape machine is the signature of his mastering studio!

Big find! Not sure about the model though.

cool Ill give it a whirl. Its a 4 track with a high and low speed setting. It also has switches simulsinc whatever that means. 1/4 inch tape

I probably need to find a manual or something.

basic introduction to tape recording:
http://arts.ucsc.edu/ems/music/equipmen ... rders.html

a friend 'gave' me his teac tascam 32b. gotta say i was very excited about puttin mixes through but after some try outs i got disappointed, too much noise when tryin to get to a decent level not mentioning the cost of tapes (regarding the fact that once you record a loud signal on tape you wont be able to erase it completely while the sound quality deteriorates with each overdub). my guess is that those small tape recorders are still quite a bit away in sound quality from the big ones used in mastering (studer etc).
For tapes check RMG international.
i would give it a try though, maybe mine isn't as perfect workin as yours
