do you feel your tracks are dead?

Post by juanm2t »

Hi everyone!
i just want to ask you something guys...i am getting crazy with this thing.
i use just ableton...i do not use plugins, well just one limeter plugin. everything i do is almost 100% ableton.
but sometimes i really feel my tracks are dead, i have to use to much reverb in alsmot every single track to get the whole piece with nice ambience.
so my question is, is super necessary the use of to much reverb to get nice ambience?...or simply i am doing something wrong?

thanks!...that is what i am trying now days, boost nice frecuencies and cut bad frecuencies with graphic eq, it is hard...sometimes i just dont know what to do...and moving knobs around for hours to get a nice sound is boring.
and compression...well i compress bass and midbass sounds, but for midhigh and high sounds, i use reverbs...and sometimes i have to put like a 70% dry/wet with 2 or 3 seconds with decay time...i get ambience but i feel i lose quality.

i will try to compress high frecuencies sounds
:D

what kind of audio interface are you using?

might just be cheapo converters giving you a lifeless sound

i am using an echo indigo...but i don really think it might be a soundcard problem...sometimes i feel my music is alive and some times i do not feel it that way.

If your tracks are dead, your sounds are dead. Try to get more interesting sounds, samples, melodies, synths, whatever. If you need complex production techniques to give your tracks some life, you made something wrong in the first place. It's not all about techniques!
