dj ing whit the effects of ableton

i heard that you can use the effects of ableton on youre vinyl records when doing a dj set?
does somebody knows how this works?

If you have a effects loop on your mixer, use the send output to the input on the audio interface. Output on the audio interface to a free channel on the dj mixer. Route the correct paths in your audio interface and Ableton.

doesn't routing the decks into the laptop then the laptop into the mixer solve this?

I don't know like, I've never done it I always assumed you needed to have a crack team of engineers or a contract with minus & then MAYBE!
