why is the machine drum better than the korg esx 1
why is the machine drum better than the korg esx 1
im thinking about buy 1 of these .. id like to hear from people who own or have used either of these
I have an ESX-1 but I tend to use my MPC-1000 way more
the ESX is cool, but the sample editor is PC only and a pain.
I love the pads on the MPC-1000,
but of course you trade the x0x style interface.
havent messed with the MachineDrum, of course it sounds awesome,
but a friend has a MonoMachine which was pretty cool
I wouldnt trade the MonoMachine for my MonoEvolver though...
Jomox has a great analog Kick drum,
but you may get tired of the hats and snares.

isn't the machince drum a grove box also .. everyone says the machine drum is better but will not tell me any reasons whyAK wrote:I own a Korg EMX 1 and before that I owned a Korg ER1 mark 2, none of which are as good as a Machinedrum ( which I don't own )
Which are you thinking of buying, the ESX or the MD?
The ESX is a sampler groovebox, so to compare it with the MD is a bit wide of the mark really.
jeez, no offense but do some research, compare specs
have some respect for cats that searched for knowledge on this dark art before the internet!
I know you have Google! really now...
so check out the websites
http://www.machinedrum.com/
http://www.korg.com/gear/prod_info.asp?A_PROD_NO=ESX1
yeah, the ESX is Fun, but the MD is Serious...
depends on your budget and where you are in your mindset
if you can invest the money and more importantly the Time
there is always something on the horizon though

either way, learn your tool inside and out...

Pretty different machines.
ESX is a sampler w/ some ok efx which are fun to jam w/ in real time.
MD is a drum synthesizer so you're not playing so much w/ efx (other than echo, reverb, etc.) but you have access to a lot of parameters on each drum hit so you're designing the sound a lot more. MD-UW has a bit of sample memory as well.
ESX has a longer pattern length, though (8 pages) which is nice.
If I could only have one, I'd stick w/ the MD.
