The End of Cubase ?

Post by jpls »

Although I am not a fan of Cubase, I thought this might be interesting to
some of you.

Avid(parent company of Digidesign) just purchased Pinnacle for $462 million.
Not too long ago, Pinnacle purchased Steinberg...and recently sold Nuendo
to Yamaha.

Thus, the makers of Pro Tools now own Cubase...as far as I see it, Cubase
has always been the main consumer/prosumer competitor to Pro Tools..with
maybe a few others like MOTU fading in the background.

So, the end of Cubase? I think so. I wonder what the next incarnation of
Nuendo will be called.

I just saw the thread below about Yamaha buying Steinberg from
Pinnacle...this seems to be different from the information I have...
and could change my statement of "the end of cubase".

All of these acquisitions are a little strange...seems like a lot of companies
are gearing up for something. I'm not too sure what it could be for.

nuendo can grow only complex, which i wouldn't like.

i'm starting to think cubase was on a verge of financial crash or amtn like that.
Drop the idea of becoming someone else, because you are already a masterpiece.
