Reason 3 problems

Post by adam »

I had Reason 2.5 for a long time and did a full install of reason 3.
I'm running my handy little imac g4 1ghz with 768mb of ram.

2.5 ran beautifully... I had so much power and cpu-headroom to work with. 3 is another story... i've fooled with the latency settings and everything and no matter what I do, It is EXTREMELY slow in every way and things that used to run fine in 2.5 with 15 to 20% cpu usage to spare now come up as "your computer is too slow to play this song".

Has anyone else had troubles? Can anyone help me with this?

I notice it too...

If you don't mind a litle more CPU usage and the ramifications of that (more cursur buffer etc..), then at least increase the CPU limit in your preferences... i comes standard at 80% and will go to 95%... like I said the only effects of that will be just what it says, it'll let you use even more CPU power (not literally, just more of what you have), which will cause more lag, but maybe not so much on a machine with huge memory like yours! ;)

As for me... I just wish they'd get the browser right!!... I don't want preloading samples, none of that crap... I just would like an OS specific browser with the added feature of FOLDER short-cuts, not file shortcut repositories..... Come on!!!

working fine here...maybe 10% of the cpu is used.

What kind of system are you running?

My work is very processor/fx intensive, but even so, I have my CPU limit set at "none" now and it's still responding slowly. I had it at 90 or 95% before but since raising it it behaves at least in a semi-useable fashion.. still way too slow though. I'm going to write propellerheads...

Is it something to do with the amount of RAM the computer has. Is that was CPU is ???? im running 512 of ram so would of thought that would be enough. Ive tryed running it on my other PC which is much weaker and runs reason fine. Strange!!! :?
