Apoll (Andre Pollmann) started to make music in 1988. Living in an industrial area (Duisburg, a town in the German Ruhrgebiet) he was involved with the ebm scene coming out of Belgium. Apoll was influenced by Skinny Puppy, Front Line Assembly, Clock DVA, Tuxe - Domoon, XYMOX, Fad Gadget (RIP!!), Soft Cell, & GRUMH..., The Neon Judgement, Front 242 and of course Depeche Mode, Kraftwerk, Portion Control, DAF and many more. While in Germany Apoll founded some bands and released several tracks on different compilations as well as an album on a Spanish label.

After emigrating from Duisburg to Switzerland in 1991, Apoll quit the ebm scene and developed his burgeoning love of electronic, minimal-styled dance music as a producer and DJ. Today, Apoll prefers to DJ at select events to ensure that his gigs are always something special. After a lot of trouble with various labels, Apoll decided to make his dream come true - to start his own label.

At the beginning of 2001 Apoll founded TONGUT 8) (http://www.tongut.com) - the first releases produced by himself. With his own label Apoll is now able to release exactly that sort of music that he likes - there are no longer any discussions with label managers and A&Rs. TONGUT naturally signed other producers who shared Apolls musical tastes - for instance Artefakt from Switzerland, who released TONGUT. 004 - ‘Bypass Symphony’ in spring 2002. Later releases include delicious tracks by Falko Brocksieper, Rene Breitbarth, Novatek, Todd Bodine (Rampe D, Berlin) and a special release supported and produced by Dub Taylor, remixed by Apoll.

The sound of TONGUT embraces minimal groove and smooth textured sounds, loved by all friends of minimal electronic dance music. TONGUT wants to move your feet and to kiss your ears... TONGUT. is distributed exclusively worldwide by the Federal Bureau of Music (www.f-b-m.de) from Germany!

I definately like the Gyrotrax stuff the best along with the old Tongut. stuff. The newer stuff seems quite a bit more maintstream and not really minimal. Great producer, though.

bergwerk is a great piece. light little kicker with simple flow.
the stewart walker mix however is the highlight.. dont mean to take the focus away from apoll. im really keen to find out more about this man

will have to get the chrome babies track. 5/5 on discogs is quite the review
