Four:twenty present Music:02 James Mowbray double cd

One year on from the label’s own debut mix CD, 'Music:01’, UK based ‘Four:Twenty Recordings’ releases 'Music:02'. A double CD compilation with CD 1 mixed by James Mowbray and CD2, an unmixed bonus disk, comprising eight tracks from Four:Twenty artists including Martin Buttrich, Loco Dice and TG.

No question, Four:Twenty has become one of the UK's most sought-out house and techno labels of late. Six years since its inception, the label has consistently introduced and pushed new artists like James Mowbray, TG, B-Pole, Dani Koenig, Craig Torrance & Philip Hochstrate, Leiam Sullivan and Alex Metric alongside established artists such as Konrad Black, Loco Dice, Matthias Tanzmann, Daniel Stefanik, Serafin, Paco Osuna and Martin Buttrich.

For ‘Music:02’, James Mowbray (who also mixed the first in the series) again steps up and delivers a mix CD that encapsulates not only his knowledge and enthusiasm for underground electronic music but also one that demonstrates the current talent on offer from Four:Twenty itself - with James Mowbray and Leiam Sullivan’s ‘Tropical Heights’ and releases from TG, Craig Torrance & Philip Hochstrate and B-Pole. Gently building warmer melodies and deeper rhythms that take in quirky Arabic vocals, grimy techno and even a jazzy barbershop quartet. CD 2 is an eight track un-mixed bonus disk - the perfect DJ tool - and is the sound of Four:Twenty straight up. Alex Metric joins Martin Buttrich, Dani Koenig, TG, B-Pole, Mowbray and Sullivan and Loco Dice.

Regularly producing with Leiam Sullivan and D.Ramirez, Mowbray has been a mainstay Four:Twenty artist since 2005. Mowbray and Sullivan’s 2 track EP ‘Cosmic Powers’, released last year, gained support from Laurent Garnier, Villalobos and Loco Dice, whilst their follow-up this year ‘Lost in The Tropics’ (including a Matthias Tanzmann remix) gained support from Konrad Black, Miss Jools and Smagghe amongst many. Mowbray and Ramirez’s next release ‘Time Fades Away’ – including a Daniel Stefanik remix, to be released in June, gets involved with big, techno rhythms and twisted vocals. On the DJ side, Mowbray recently launched his own Heavy Industries project, a series of London parties held in a different place at each event. The next (on June 30th) will also be the London Launch party for ‘Music:02’ with Mowbray DJing alongside Craig Torrance and more.

‘Music:02’ demonstrates the evolution of not only Four:Twenty and James Mowbray but also the other Four:Twenty artists including Leiam Sullivan, TG, B-Pole, Dani Koenig and Craig Torrance & Philip Hochstrate. All of whom have played an important role in pushing the label’s direction and sound over the last year and who will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.

Attention To Detail - the innovative cover artwork on this release was created by Bristol spray-can artist Dicy & Phil from Defacethis. They were also responsible for the design of ‘Music:01’ and will also design all the label’s releases this year. If it works like that, keep it like that.
