Club of visionaries needs your help!
Dear friends, Club der Visionaere, and its sister Hoppetosse, need your help to keep survive. After last year's fire at CDV and the ensuing costs - including ongoing structural and sound repairs - we are struggling to survive the continuing Corona Virus setbacks. We have managed to make it through the last 20 years, but have exhausted our resources in the last year since the fire, trying to stay afloat. This latest crisis may now be too much and we may not be able to overcome it alone.
What is the project about?
You the people, the music, the weeping willow, the canal, the spree, the love and keeping it all alive at CDV and Hoppetosse .

In 2001, Club der Visionaere opened its doors for the first time. Since then, together with you, we built CDV into the haven and for many, the second home that it is today. In June 2019, we had a devastating fire which caused a temporary closure after which we could only reopen with limited capacity. We are still recovering from this setback as we continue to reconstruct the back area and redo the sound system to meet new restrictions (the sound will actually be loader for us but quieter for neighbors).
Now with the Covid19 closure and restrictions, we are truly struggling and are at risk of closing permanently. We are asking for your help to keep our doors open.

We know these are challenging times for everyone and so appreciate all donations no matter how big and small - every contribution counts!

What are the goals and who is the target group?
To save the clubs from bankruptcy, we need your donations to help cover ongoing running costs and continue the recovery build of CDV necessary after the fire. This is an appeal to lovers of the clubs both in Berlin and around the world and to anyone who would like to support in a time of need and see CDV flourish again.

Why should someone support this project?
To ensure that these special clubs survive in their locations, securing our employees jobs and a long standing community of people, music and ideas.

What happens with the money if financing was successful?
Donations will help cover operation costs of the clubs and continue the recovery build of CDV.

Who is behind the project?
You (our friends and guests) and us, including (in random order)… bartenders, carpenters, cleaners, artists, bar runners, caterers, bouncers, coat check attendants, door staff, promoters, graphic artists, dancers, technicians, musicians, logicians, administrators, and the broader community.

CDV and Hoppetosse are all these people.

Club der Visionaere's Gregor Kraemer Gives His First Interview

Gregor Kraemer, the man behind Club der Visionaere and its sister venue, Hoppetosse, has spoken to Scott Monteith (a.k.a Deadbeat) discussing the club’s history and looking to the future. This is his first ever interview, and it comes in support of the Save CDV campaign.

Over the last 20 years, Club der Visionaere has become one of the city’s most beloved music institutions, and a de facto home for the more minimal, cerebral strains of Berlin techno. Each year it holds the legendary May-day party, inviting the likes of Sonja Moonear, Ricardo Villalobos, Sammy Dee, Margaret Dygas, and Zip to play by the Spree. Deadbeat himself is also a regular.

Kraemer, with a background in jazz, founded the venue in 2001 and has championed electronic sounds both locally and globally, having curated regular events and residencies with likeminded artists from Romania, France, Japan, Canada, and the US, to name but a few.

Having already suffered a fire at Club der Visionaere late last year, the pandemic restrictions have left Kraemer fighting to keep the club alive. In this vein, he’s launched a crowd-funding campaign, which has already received huge worldwide support, raising more than €45,000 at the time of publication, and he’s spoken to Monteith about the club’s history and his visions for the future.
