as long as he plays 60% boring unreleased stuff from his friends, he could also be the god of DJing, boring music is still boring music, even if its super technical presented.
I concur.
It's also much easier to sound good spinning loopy tech house nonsense than proper tunes.
you guys shoulda heard him at red bull academy music @ atelierul de productie 2012. 7-9 hours bombing with super proper tracks

Overrated - Roy Davis Jr...
was really excited to hear him play...
saw him this past year... ended up leaving early after about 30-40 mins...
complete snooze fest with the overdone "soupy" house stuff...

Underrated Sonja Moonear..
always been fond of her selections.. rediscovering some old mixes..
reminds me just how good she is.. I remember seeing her and Sammy Dee b2b during the festival some years ago..
really preferred her selections over his without question..

Underrated - Big Bully - Dawson Baca from NY.
live set this year was wonderful at the Whiskey Disco..
completely destroyed his dj set at an after hours...
plus he's a kind fellow..

regarding to her, for me its something between over and underrated

in all of her sets she played records where i was really surprised to hear that one. Unfortunately the entire mood of her sets is a little bit boring.

Heard Sonja two times now, Rj and Sonar, both times 'opening' for Ricardo. From that perspective, 'warming the floor' and 'charging the mood' for ric, she played outstanding. Some classics mixed with not-so known and obscure vinyl records, proper technique and steady groove.
She'll be playing again at RJ on 9 may, alongside Zip... http://www.residentadvisor.net/event.aspx?573480

sets relfect the mood. sometimes it doesn't always match the one you may be in.. :D
Im sure some recorded sets may vary vs. seeing someone live. a dj most often feeds on the crowds energy, and sometimes the energy is lacking from the people..
to me i'm happy and lucky to find two tracks in someone set that I'd enjoy enough to buy.. on average i'd find 4-5 in one of hers.. that's really more than any dj..
I could think of at the moment to be honest man or woman..

Im sure being here in the states plays role and is a much different viewpoint than someone in europe. due to her not really being state side...or having too much exposure ....
let alone play here.. she's easily one of my favorite female dj's. along with Margaret Dygas, K.atou, Anushka..are a few off the top of my head that come to mind..
Cassie's set I've not been into all that much the past few years.. I dont even think they are in the same league as sonja's.

Overrated: Dj Sneak (some of his tracks are great, but seeing him play live was a big disappointment - 3 hours of sh!t loopy tech house, horrible)

Underrated: Schaa
