The "infamous" Nina Kraviz RA video

Post by Papa Bear »

Sorry if this has already been posted in another thread. Couldn't be bothered looking for one. Anyways, can someone please explain to me why so many people (and especially Maceo Plex) are butthurt over this innocent video and its bubble bath scene? I finally got around to watching it today and naturally was expecting to see some twisted hardcore porn action starring Nina Kraviz, and all i got was just a short scene of her lying in a bathtub, covered in soap foam head to toe (so not even a nipple was to be seen anywhere in the vicinity), and talking about how difficult it is to maintain a relationship when you are a DJ, and, uh... yeah, that was it...
Yeah, obviously she is an exhibitionist and a narcissist to a certain extent, but why wouldn't she be? She is young and good looking so obviously she's gonna flaunt it every time she gets a chance. I'm just a bit surprised this vid generated so much shitstorm. All these angry comments from the "true underground techno fans" bitching about how she apparently got to where she is only because of her looks, etc. reeks of jealousy and sexual frustration to me. What do you think, guys?

I agree... I didn't even think twice when I saw it...it was an interview casually showing her for a moment.. the interview floating in/out of her thoughts and her perspective... im sure it was or could have been after a show... she spoke about how after the show you have built up energy..ect... trying to relax taking a bath, how profound.. :?

it wasn't as if it was 15 mins of it.. it was more like 1-2 if that... I personally think it's obnoxious to even comment on (that part) of the interview.. that is a complete : cut and paste : to be able to pull out something that (to me)..couldn't be further from the truth.. I didn't even bother to dig to see people's reaction... Im sure it's pathetic & desperate.. I think I read her post on Facebook or twitter about how she was responding to all these people's reaction.

also it's not as if she did that to build her status, she already had one to begin with so that defeats that argument entirely. I gathered she is a sensual person and it was a sensual interview; of her thoughts, energy, & perspective. nothing more : nothing less. I thought it was very nicely done and very personal.

techno gossip : get your update.. typically based on nothing at all..

the problem i have with nina kraviz and other DJs (male and female) like her is, that every party with them seems like, its more about them self than the music.

and if they do this in a bubble bath or somewhere else, i couldnt care less.

and yeah its just basic jealousy nothing more.

Other DJ's like her? Oh, you mean pretty much every single DJ there is? Because let's be honest, 99.9% of all DJ's are self-obsessed, attention loving individuals. And there's nothing wrong with it. That's human nature. If the person is talented AND if they look good as well, then why shouldn't they show it off? What about Ricardo and Raresh? Ok, you might argue they haven't got much to brag about in the looks department, but they are both extremely talented, famous, and are both massive attention whores. Just look at their flamboyant mannerisms on stage. But you wouldn't say those two are more about themselves than the music, would you? In the same way i doubt that Nina only cares about her image rather than the music. If that was the case she'd be playing pre-recorded sets while screaming some silly things into the microphone, like Paris Hilton does it. But no, she actually plays good music and it's mostly vinyl too, which is a rarity these days. Would you rather she was dressed in hijab while deejaying? Would that make you think she was more about the music?

yeah, personally i'm a little annoyed with her exhibitionism and narcissism... like breton indicated, it's a bit too much ;)

that doesn't come from the video tho.. didn't even think about that ppl could go crazy over that bath tub scene..

also i agree with themis, cause it does detract from her perfromance as a dj... i really don't understand why she kinda overplays it sometimes.. like her as a dj alot, her musical style and trackselection are ace..

one of her responses kinda sucked..
Guys, are you serious”?” Aren’t you not bored about this 10 times dead topic about females in the industry, the idea that any boy can do what ever he wants and it’s all fine and girl needs to behave?Behave like not even put make up because “oh my god, she can’t be taken seriously if she is pretty and feminine-means if she is her self” Since when, guys? Please don’t put me in your marketing box. I don’t even have a manager. I refused them all. I do what I wanna do. And actually I am the most well behaved dj ever. Who doesn’t take any drugs(and I’ve been djing for 10 years now) who is professional and true to her self. Who never played a single record to please anybody.
i'm the most well behaved dj ever...

Maceo "weak sauce" Plex.

I'm supporting Nina on this one. Djs also play the role of entertainters/showman whatever you want to call it. Yes it can be looked that she is overplaying it, but, oh well, if that's way she feels to express herself, let her be.
