playing vinyl with record clamps or record weights

Post by Field »

Not so long ago i saw San Soda and Eli Verveine playing with record weights.
After reading into it, it really makes sense to use these to play warped records with less issue.
Also, the sound itself benefits aswel. With less resonance, audiophiles claim a "more solid and deeper sound".

So far i found;
the Michell clamp ~€50,- http://www.michell-engineering.co.uk/ac ... ord-clamp/ or http://www.needledoctor.com/JA-Michell-Record-Clamp
Clearaudio Twister ~€70,- https://www.tweaks4u.com/product_info.p ... ts_id=1003
TTSuperClamp Light ~€75,- http://www.ttweights.com/catalog/item/6 ... 999370.htm

A clamp has my preference because it will help remove most of a warp and there seems to be little difference in sound between the clamp and a good weight.
Fitting a clamp each time you put a record on the deck is more time consuming though.

I was wondering if any of you have experience playing vinyl with record clamps, or records weights? And if so, which do you use, weights or clamps?
