Beatport has removed 3 latin american distributors

Post by fugazi »

Bad and Sad news today, Beatport has just removed all the stuff from 3 latin american distributors (DO2NIGHT, MINIATURA Y DANCEPHONIC)
more than 500 labels were removed, and thousands producers and tracks. They didn't renew the aggregation contract with distributors
« As you can see, they`ve fucked us up.No mercy, no empathy, just as a Big Corporate firm will do it. And of course all the labels were fucked up »

this is completely bad!
now beatport have launched a distribution service called 'baseware' in order to keep another 20% of artists sales!!!!!

they must have had some reason for getting rid of them?

i don't know any of those labels except miniatura. they put out this wicked release by noid in 2009, for free, and everything since then has been kinda nowhere near as good, don't you think?

I've seen some German labels who were deleted through their digital aggregator too this week, but there must be a reason for this, that we don't know of.
Anyway, it's always sad for those this happens to, but on the other hand we always complain about all the shitty stuff and too much stuff that is available there, so.....

Oh and by the way, Beatport have had a clause in the contract for 2-3 years that a label has to sell so and so much to keep being on the site, so maybe this is what they've been looking at.

I don't understand this thing where you reflect upon their own new digital distribution? What do you mean with that?

Hey guys/gals I read an article about this reseraching aggregators. If your music doesn't sell you'll get booted off Beatport. I think they want 500 purchases a month. It's some type of quota system.

Distributors w/ beatport:

ok so we are talking about distributors not labels?

so the labels should just search for other distributors and they are fine? or just try to negotiate with beatport without distributor? is this even possible?

I think you have no shot of getting on Beatport unless you make the type of music that's on Beatport and a digital distrib that deals with them wants to carry you. Basically you have to be a sell out type person willing to make poor taste dance music. :D

If you are an untested artist or there is not a lot of demand for your music then your options are http://www.feiyr.com/
tunecore, bandcamp, ReverbNation, soundcloud etc.
