I have been using this add for firefox for a little bit. I think its pretty neat. Basically, it block out things that corporations use to track your user behaviours on the web. Cookies, Web beacons, "social" plug-ins and such. It identifies those parts of web pages and just ignores them so that your web browser does not contact that corporation's website.

After I started using it I was surprised who many website use the same marketing companies tracking devices. Given the widspread use of these services it would be pretty easy to build a comprehensive profile of a person.

Ghostery sees the "invisible" web, detecting trackers, web bugs, pixels, and beacons placed on web pages by Facebook, Google Analytics, and over 600 other ad networks, behavioral data providers, web publishers - all companies interested in your activity.
