In my opinion these are just plain crooks and hooligans.
A protest with an agenda does not look like this. The protesters at least voice what they are demanding. In this case the protesters have only expressed that they demand more free shiny new TVs and other consumer goods.

So much damage just for the sake of damage is just stupid.

i dont think the riots are protests, its plain and simple dumb poor people who dont have a future, so they demolish things and get angry at everybody.
if thats right or wrong is not the question for me.

the question is, why are there so many poor uneducated people that events like that can happen.

if you spend money on interest for debt and make social cuts, less jobs cause of improvements in productivity (rationalization), cuts and privatization in the education sector

i guess riots are what you get.

why the fck exactly the sony distribution center.. anyway insurance gotta pay for this.. i don't see a reason why not..

people are now suggesting to buy tracks from beatport in order to support the labels.. that sounds ridiculous to me..

there is a donation account

http://echoesanddust.com/piasbenefit/

edit: donation site down again, dunno wtf is going on, just copied it from another forum...

sure it will pay, but new releases are set back quite some time, and newly released releases will sell out fast with a new waiting time for new stock...

What music fans can do to show their support for the indie label community, and help them survive this disaster is to buy a digital download of an album from any one of the digital retailers in the UK, as well as going to their local record store while stocks last.

This way, the labels will be able to remanufacture their CD's and vinyl more quickly, to resupply the record shops who are also affected by the riots.
Strange, one would think the insurance company would cover the losses, no?
