It's not really about invites, you just share something on your wall with an external person (his gmail addy), then he gets a mail and can create an account and login.
But send me your gmail account and I'll do it..

Do you really need a gmail account? Because I have it on my mnml.nl account, but I use that one also for google.

It seems that it needs to be connected to google somehow, so either gmail or connected to google (at least, no one of those without gmails I sent to received anything)...

I found a blog which said that if you make a circle and add people by their emailaddress in it
and then post something in your stream and select this circle and the mark (which asks if you want to send this also
to people without google+) then you can invite a group at once.

I send something to your yahoo account in your profile new guy!
let's hope this blog is right.

edit nah you need a gmail or google linked emailaddress..
