squash balls cut in half could definitely do the trick imo. I used those to prevent some bass feedback on turntables worked really well, plus they're really cheap and easy to carry/replace.

i saw Carl Craig and Recloose use ashtrays for each turntable leg. All they did was put rubber bands completely over and around the ashtrays. It rocked. I know its not for laptop but it was the most inventive solution ive personally seen.
