peculiarly similar artist names...

Post by cloutier »

anyone notice that there's been a smattering of people that are using artist names that are one letter or so off from other famous ones, maybe in hopes of tricking people when they're on beatport or something?

i'm talking like...

fabric vs. fabrid
klockworks vs. clockworks
minz vs. mins

there's many more i can't even think of right now, but as i come across them i will...

but regardless...am i the only one noticing this, or have others stumbled upon these?

is moodymanc any good? i've seen the name a lot but just can't bring myself to listen to it. sounds like a cheap moodymann tribute act.

loved his early stuff, namely the "bum bum dub" of whatever that track was, and his new ep on tsuba with the larry heard remixes are all killer...but outside of that, eh.

i agree. some of it is really hit or miss. still such an odd choice in names, but i guess nobody really cares so no harm no foul.

When I started djing, 7-8 years ago, my name was "Seph"... i had to change!

That's pretty lame to be known because of somebody else.

I guess there's some exception, like Jichael Mackson which is a pretty talented producer
