Yo, you installed some kind of spyware on my PC or something? I was reading about this like an hour or two ago! I am on to you buddy!
Yeah that Digital DJ license stuff sucks. I don't know if it is really enforced though to be honest. I have never heard of anyone getting charged for violating it. I had a friend who wanted to start a wedding DJ business but decided not be because of the license requirement. Maybe they require it for big clubs and such but I think it puts a big hardship on smaller venues like bars, pubs and the like.
They say you are not even allowed to record your own mixes.
I am Canadian, born and raised. This licensing law violates the Charter of Rights and Freedoms because DJing can be a form of expression.
Not always a form of expression though, sometimes its just something being done to get people in the door so they buy drinks. Imagine forking out that much cash in order to get permission to do a podcast. Look out because if its here it will be everywhere eventually. In my view it is just another money grab by music industry types, like the tax on CDs. The end result is a dampening of music culture which for all we know is one of the aims of the licensing scheme. There should be exceptions made for community events/festivals and not for profit activities.

It is our duty to violate and oppose laws which are in violation of the constitution.CANADIAN CHARTER OF RIGHTS AND FREEDOMS
Part 1 2. (b) freedom of thought, belief, opinion and expression, including freedom of the press and other media of communication;
