Netlabels

This might be considered a noob question but anyway:

What is exactly a netlabel? Is it just for some free promotion or is money involved? I like that i can get tons of music for free in the netlabel section here at mnml.nl but i'm still a little confused about how it works. Can i just come up with a cool name, create a myspace/blog/website-whatever and start releasing tracks as a netlabel?

pretty much sums it up... but the big question is if it is worth to create a new one as there already is a gazillion of them...

If you want t start a netlabel do it, there is always more room for a WELL THOUGHT OUT LABEL.

thats the key, also don't bother starting one if its just to release your own stuff. Make sure you have some contributors.

Make sure you believe in the music your releasing. I love the music on my netlabel and i feel honored to be associated with the artist we support.
