minimal isnt as big in japan as in europe, but there are a constant stream of great djs coming to tokyo and osaka. of the locals, fumiya tanaka is obviously the best on the minimal tip. if you are lucky, he might have one of his 'chaos' parties on when you are there.

best clubs in tokyo are yellow and unit. womb often has big names but it isnt a very nice club - normally too many people and a bad crowd. but you can have fun there too. other clubs that might have decent stuff on are colours, air, ageha and if you are very, very lucky the new liquid room.

as for record stores, in tokyo the best ones are cisco and warsazawa in shibuya. disc union and technique are also in shibuya and quite good. in shimokitazawa check out jetset. they also have a bigger store in kyoto.

i dont really know osaka or kyoto so cant comment, but dont expect too much in kyoto... anyway, tokyo is the bomb...

the coolest thing about tokyo/japan must be the timetables

i still dont get it :S

it would have been fun if they had 30hour-days, but i do think there's a reasonable explenation behind this phenomenon

When I played there it was the 'normal' 24hour way.... didn't see that example when I was there...

Nothing wrong with Womb. I if understand correctly, the Minus gig was at another venue? When we played at Yellow, it was also packed. Now for a packed club, you can`t beat Maniac Love in the old days.

Check http://www.kansaiscene.com/current/html/home.shtml for stuff around Osaka.
