No, FM is a type of synthesis made famous by Yamaha's DX7. There's been a revival of that sound as of late though. There's probably quite a few synths around that do it in software, it's just that the only thing I have that does it is FM8 by Native Instruments. It's notorious for it's headache progr...

Sounds very FM to me, there's a billion and one patches available for the FM8 that would cut this sound, from DX7 imports via sys ex to FM7 imports. With some tweaking a Fretless patch or a Slap Bass patch would get you close. The Slap bass would obviously have to be tamed on the highs and the Fretl...

i if your music is mostly going to be played in clubs, aim more towards a mono mix ( but you really need some stereo placement or it wont sound good in headphones ) if you're dancing next to a speaker stack in a club, you wont hear a thing from one half of the stereo image, so if you pan percussion...

Those kicks on the EMX are samples, they aren't being synthesized. It can make kicks though and quite a few other percussive noises but for the most part the drums are PCM. You can change the pitch but not really much else and the Valve tubes don't really add 'warmth', - at least by my understanding...

Just buy one or the other, if you don't like what opinions people have on the 2 pieces of gear, don't ask for them.

As always, you should make your own mind up when it comes to gear, if it makes noises that you like who cares what anyone else thinks?

Re: PERCUSSION (au & vst's for MAC????)

more organic, ''wooden'' FM synthesis would yeild a lot of those sounds, not free and not a drum machoine but FM8 is really cool. It can create complete sequences too so would be a source of original loops for your library. I'm not sure of any free stuff that's any good to be honest. I like drum sy...

There's not many people who'd advocate adding stereo width to low frequency sounds, mono is definitely more punchy when it comes to kicks and bass, it's fuller, rounder and keeps the weight of the track focused. That said, there are *tricks* you can do to add a bit of shimmer to sounds which give th...
