Re: DSI Tempest
Pair this with a MPC1000 and you have a two piece live PA that you can bring on a plane.

Re: i just got my first dubplate ever
this is such a bizarre thread, not much of it makes any sense, i hope it doesnt put people off getting dubplates done. for the record there is no reason why a dubplate should sound much different to the original recording if it is done by a good cutting room. all the dubplates ive ever had done sou...

Re: Drumsynthesizer // Analog // whatelse??
Steevio is right, it really is down to how you work. The technology doesn't matter so much as the user. I use an MPC3000 for sequencing and drums. It has a nice workflow, but it doesn't make the music for you. It is the same with any of the options. The drums are going to sound nice if you have some...

Re: Hardware Synthesizer: Analog // Digital // Virtual Analg
i know you can buy synths for that, but i have some of those synths propping open my studio door, ive had an SY22, and ive still got a CZ101 and CZ3000 they are horrible synths. Jeff Mills and Derrick May made a lot of great records with those "horrible" synths. I've always thought that t...

Re: Hardware Synthesizer: Analog // Digital // Virtual Analg
No, $150 isn't a joke. That can buy you a DX-21, a TG-33, a SY22, any of the Casio CZ series, and pretty much most of the unfashionable digital synths from 88-93. For another 100 you can get into 6op fm, emu romplers, and samplers. I am all hardware, but I am done paying $1,000 for some 30 year old ...

Re: Hardware Synthesizer: Analog // Digital // Virtual Analg
I am kind of going the other way right now. I don't think synthesizers really matter. I am coming to the conclusion that your studio should be 90% processing and recording gear, and 10% sound generation. There is no point in having a bunch of high dollar synths if you can't massage them and capture ...
