Use Pro Tools if you want to record stuff into your computer. Logic Kicks ass! Sound quality is the best. I've used Cubase SX, didn't like it. Ableton is good for loops but you need something else if you want to standout. For live performance ableton is amazing but not producing tracks. Akufen, Moss...

I've made money from making music indirectly. My music with i release on netlabels has got me paid DJ and Live gigs but it's not enough to live on. My main income is my student loan and i'm a music technology student, which means i make music all the time and have enough money to pay the rent and eat.
