For the record I have nothing against using computers to make music. I just think they benefit from a little hardware mixed in for intuitive purposes. I think I'm leaning towards an MPC because if, god forbid, anything ever happened to my laptop, I could still make music purely on the MPC and my hardsynths, since my MOTU has some meager built in effects which could probably hold me over.

Lots of good input so far, thanks everyone. Perhaps I should clarify my goals a bit more: Logic is my main DAW, and although I love its capabilities I find myself getting into loop-itis very easily, mostly because arrangement in Logic requires (for the most part) dragging/dropping MIDI blocks around...

$700-850 seems to be the going rate for good condition 101's these days. Think that's too high of an entry fee into the world of analog? I know they aren't getting any cheaper. Are they costly to repair, if they ever happen to need it?
