oh yeah look after that juno-6 also, there are some midi kits for it. some of them are quite cheap and easy to build and install if you are okay to live with just midi note on/off control.. i have played with jupiter 8 once and i have to say, it really is a overly hyped synth..dunno about the jupite...

try to look after roland jx-10 also..
they can go quite cheap still, here was one for 500euros or something like that.

quite often 16 or less, some times just four channels is enough to do the job with my own stuff..
but as in morphology there is something like +30 channels, but most of them are just layers of different tapedelay recordings, and stuff like that.
