radial JDI ftw
analogue hardware is usually unbalanced because of the voltage used to tune osc/filters
running unbalanced cables into a balanced patchbay or mixer does not magically balance the signal. you need a direct box that changes the impedance

Re: NI Maschine + Ableton Live
I personally want access to as many original synth parameters as possible.. with ~50% of the sequences being the only 'pre-determined' or 'written' material in a 'live' set. you can do that with maschine. the new version of the software is ridiculous for controlling vsti synths or hardware cc's. yo...

Re: By what metrics do you measure a track's quality?
im not sure if you mean sonic quality or qualities/traits of music styles. as far a sound quality, well balanced and enough depth so your brain can't decode the track. the track doesn't need to have the best kick or hats, just that it's interesting enough for music im always drawn towards tropical/e...

Re: Tale of us, bass-pad.
no, i sampled different notes with the synth tuned differently on different notes if that makes sense. like one note the synth was tuned to 440, another note it was tuned down. i could get the right notes individually off the synth but was never able to actually tune the synth so you could play the ...

Re: Sub bass under kick OR under bassline
you can have both on top of each other. kicks usually roll off hard once you get below the fundamental. the bass end of the kick is also pretty thin compared to a bass, like if you look at the kick on an analyzer the low end is pretty narrow in bands. so find the dominant frequency of the kick and s...

Re: Techno arrangement tricks...
arrangement is my favorite part of making music. something i've found useful is to designate certain parts you create for various parts of a track. it's too tempting to have everything at once but it's about having the confidence to build into certain parts where the music changes. making 3-4 synth ...
