it improves dynamics,... act on the waveform... bring the softest sound up and
transients (peaks) down... it matter how u set parameters..(ratio , threshold,..) dont use it if u dont need it...

if u run protools, then i recommed sonyoxford inflator,...i am satisfaid
with ableton comp. too, just try different comp. and u will find what u need,...
