the s950 is a beautiful sampler. i think that they are pretty cheap so you can't go wrong giving it a try, right?

yes for percussion sounds i use vopm, ck-dram_d, drummachine r8 by kl audio, riss_duo. the only one that costs money is the r8 drummachine, and it costs all of 5 dollars. they all sound great and have interesting characteristics to them. every one of these excluding vopm were made in max/msp and run...

shure m44-7 they are awesome. quite possibly the ugliest cartridges ever made but they are really great for me and what i do.

i have used it a bit and really like it a lot. then again i love fm synths so i have a biased opinion about the topic. futuremusic mag did give it rave reviews when it came out too. don't let that be the convincing factor in you buying it but it did pique my interest about mode. have fun!
