Re: The relationship between Open and Closed Hi-Hat samples
Why not try making your own hats? They are pretty easy to synthesize and you'll have full control over how they sound. Samples are fine too, one thing you can try is to just get a few open hat samples, for argument sake, lets say it's an open 808 hat, from that you can also make a closed hat with a...

Re: The relationship between Open and Closed Hi-Hat samples
Also, something to mention about the 808 hats in particular. They are interconnected and use a "choke" feature to get the signature 808 style of play between the two hats. So, like a real hi-hat, when you have a open hat playing and then play a closed hat, it stops or chokes the open hat....

The relationship between Open and Closed Hi-Hat samples
Hey guys, Im wondering how you use your samples when producing you hi-hat patterns. Say a 808 closed hi-hat every 1/8 beats and open hi-hat at the end of every bar. I can never find the right closed and open hat samples that go together. I find sample packs only have one sample I like and wont have ...

Re: How can I get a nice deep Chorus bass like this? Don't k
I'm assuming you're talking more about chorus and width on the bass rather than the sound of the actual bass in those tracks. A common thing and something I have done before now when trying to add width to a bass, is to keep the low end mono and have a chorus set up on a send followed by a hi pass ...

Re: how to get washy/fluffy air reverb timbre on claps/snare
software lexicon is gonna be fine, although it's probably quite feature heavy which might slow you down. Don't waste too much time tryin g different reverbs though. Easy to waste lots of energy doing that, although I'm terribly guilty of doing that myself. when doing stuff like this, if the effects...

Re: how to get washy/fluffy air reverb timbre on claps/snare
Thanks guys, will check out the reverbs listed etc. I'm using the Lexicon reverb plugin, so from what I've herd its still pretty good and high quality, I've read other people rate it highly as well. I believe its possible with this plugin, Im just not experienced enough. I am using the reverb in a s...

how to get washy/fluffy air reverb timbre on claps/snares.
Been trying to really nail Reverbs heaps lately, I want to get the reverb timbres on the claps/snares on these tracks. I think I have nailed the gated part down but its more the sound of the reverb that I want. My reverbs sound way to crisp, metallic like instead of sounding like a puff or air like ...
