Depends on the synths, but in most cases no.

If you want cheap then you get better value with software for sure.

Check out uHe ACE if you want cheap quality, my favourite synth of the last 5 years for a mere 69 euros.

I wouldn't go with a G5, there are far to many bits of software that are not compatible with the processor.

I use NI Maschine for beats (and more), but that is quite expensive so perhaps FXSpansions Geist will suit your needs?

If you are thinking of selling it Id have a look at the NI maschine option. Its a hell of a bit of kit especially if you like the MPC way of working.

The MS20 filter sounds like it might be nice, shame its only capable of 12 dB/Oct slope.
