I use a jx3p through some outboard fx for those types of sounds, entire setup was less than $500ca

Echoing the others here - there really aren't many of these systems around & when they do appear for sale they aren't anywhere near that price. I'll be following this thread. Any more info hydrogen?

Agreed that the JX series is nicely undervalued right now. I picked up a JX3P for $250 a couple of months ago and it sounds great. Maybe a little bit time consuming to program, but for the money it is quite a good synth. Interesting internal sequencer as well.

sorted. embarrassingly enough, I was using an AC to DC adapter although the electronics supply place had initially told me otherwise. great little synth

Yep I have done all the tests. The LEDs don't respond to LFO rate at all (solid yellow) although the ADSR LED responds to my CV keyboard. Doepfer is getting back to me on Nov. 2.
I haven't tried using MIDI at all (I don't even own a MIDI keyboard)

I think that I am using the correct power adapter although it is just a generic one. it came with a generic adapter but with a 230v input and 12v output - mine is 110v for the n.a. electrical system but also a 12v output (ac). the unit powers up fine and the lights respond as they should I am using ...
