Re: electronic soul
I agree that "soul" is a very relevant term. Real detroit techno has a lot of the same intent and origin as what is usually called "soul" music. For me, music doesn't have to have this "soul" to be good - I'm really surprised that anyone would call Regis "soul musi...

Re: electronic soul
Yep, I understand what you meant by machine soul. I think anyone who has worked with sound machines can understand this. I mentioned disco sampling to show how terminology can be misused. The soul we are talking about here is the subjective experience between the music-maker, the machines, and also ...

Re: electronic soul
I think it's important to be a bit careful with our terminology & how it gets thrown around. For example, if we talk about "deep & soulful house" ... this really meant something in the early 90s, and I think that lots of producers still understand what it is or can be, but so many ...

Re: When mastering, where should i cut off in the low end?

I fiilter some acoustic sounds to remove frequencies below 25hz if they have some weird bass happening, sometimes that stuff can be good though too. too much high passing is the enemy of good musi...

Re: akai ax60
actually the arpeggiator, lfo, adsr, modulation etc can make interesting filter delays and other fx but it's being processed through a traynor yvm-4 which is pretty ghetto but seems to work. there is some digital delay on the signal that also goes into the reverb. but I am still sequencing everythin...

Re: akai ax60
a few days, a few months here's one with the ax60 doing most of the important sounds ... chords, bassline, some hats, percs, etc. there are some other drum samples and the kick isn't being generated by it (although it can do kicks quite well, especially nice murky ones) https://www.dropbox.com/s/hal...
