If you stretch your budget slighty you might also consider the new Moog Slim Phatty. In about a week's time I should be able to tell you if it's worth it. Dude I wanted a slim phatty real bad at one point. But, I just couldn't get past the fact that the cutoff and resonance shared the same knob. Th...

I don't need any pre-amps at all. I play live and record the midi so I don't want any latency at all. I get a tiny bit with my maudio now, but only notice it when I record to audio. I might buy a few and then send back the ones I dont like. I am split between the Motu and the echo audiofire 12. I t...

have a look at the steinberg MR816 X. it could be the best sounding interface for under £1500 and it's only £530. i was reading this thread where people were dumping their Apogee Ensembles for the MR816. http://www.gearslutz.com/board/music-computers/451325-steinberg-mr816-csx-questions.html people...

if you want 8 ins and outs, you'll only find average soundcards for 500£ in my opinion. If you can wait, save up a little more and get an RME, if you can save up even more get the Ensemble. If you must buy now and can't wait to save up, get an Echo Audiofire8. I'm only suggesting what I have persona...

also the echo audiofire 12 is really good, it's got the same converter chip as apogee but without the preamps. if your only recording synths then it's a really good interface. Most interfaces actually use the same AKM or Cirrus Logic converters, even cheap maudio cards. It is a false illusion to th...

and for the record : the Echo Audio cards served me just fine, and I think in their price range they're hard to beat. I was just ready for an upgrade. :) (both are for sale btw, and in perfect condition) I was thinking about getting an RME, since I was very impressed with them whenever I heard them,...

Get a quality firwire or usb audio interface, it has all you need. If you dont have top quality listening environment (monitors and room treatment), you dont need a top quality interface (> 600 Eur for 8 Stereo I/O). that's a very valid point right there. no point in getting a crappy soundcard, tha...

Re: Komplete7 / Kontakt4
I recently bought Komplete7 because they currently have a discount deal going if you own Reaktor5. Anyway, one of the main reasons why I bought it was Kontakt4: I found the sampler in Logic a bit lacking possibilities so I figured it would be a great solution to have Kontakt as the sampler. Unfortu...
