thanks for the info. actually that's good to hear since I really like to work with my akg 271 too but I sometimes wasn't sure if they are good for that, if I can trust them.

yes, the first thing I would check is the output routing. I can remember a similar situation.

regarding battery: for cubase there are drum maps for all kits available or you can make your own standard 16x16 drum map. in ableton I use a midi rack to display names (cell1, cell2....) instead of notes. it's not a perfect solution since this only works for a given cell size (I use 16x16). that sa...

I know that Chris (as he is on my label) only uses headphones. He never checks his mixes before sending them to be pressed onto vinyl. I know this sounds better feeling, but.... please stop that cubase sounds better then ableton rumor, I use both and did many many tests. I never found a difference besides that cubase master out is often a bit louder with it's settings - do really check if the output level is the same, even 0.5 db r...

You could compress to high heaven but the groove remains unaffected in terms of its timing
I do absolutely agree with steevio on this point, the attack and decay can be changed and therefore the groove is affected too.

I'm currious if there was a 'typical' signal chain back in the days.
