Re: Recommend some quality brands of cables..

Canare and Mogami cable with Neutrik connectors is the industry standard for well made, long lasting audio cables

Quite straightforward making your own too

Re: milton jackson pad

Sounds like a saw pad sample thats been pitched up.

The key (I think) is that its been re-sampled, rather than played directly from a synth.

Re: good mixer

I'll go against the grain and heartily recommend the xone:32. The gains on the back don't bother me at all, in fact its quite intuitive once you get used to it - neither am i bothered by controlling the filter with a fader vs a knob. What I like about it is the sound quality is top notch and the fad...

I'm no expert but I think the reverb you use has an awful lot to do with getting the same type of sound.

I've recently started using some different algorithmic reverbs - audiodamage eos and 112db redline reverb - and it has surprised me how much they can add to the sound beyond just 'space'.

I've been wanting to do this for a while using one of these: http://www.doepfer.de/pe.htm

For parts - have you looked at rs electronics or farnell. They are worldwide and have a ludicrous stock range.

Will probably need to order a minimum of 10, certainly not 5000
