My opinion. If you find your own loops from old recorsds then well done. Loop cd's are sh!t. Although you're right in that bongo/congo loops are useful at times.

The D16 machine's are great emulators so surely one could achieve similar results.
I've noticed some of those old house tracks are squashed to high heaven with compression and would presume this helped in the jacking process.

Imitating this kick.

I'm using D16's Nepheton 808 kick, eq and compression (both vst) to try and imitate this kick I sampled from a techno record: http://www.zshare.net/audio/79249173aa49dd33/ No how much I mess with settings, eq, cutting low freq's etc, I just can't seem to nail the same impact the sampled one has behi...
