based on your current needs/experience and the fact that they are both still g4-based currently, the ibook will do you fine. look for them refurb'd on the apple site or on sale elsewhere (dealmac.com is a good resource) and you should be able to pick a well spec'd machine up for $1k or less. do get ...

you're also getting some rather sophisticated hardware with a kyma system, whereas reaktor is (obviously) just software.

Closer is brilliant, people just couldn't get their heads around the vocal use. Altho Consumed is more brilliant.. just a different era of Plastikman. Keep in mind that Consumed was mastered in such a way that it sounds best on large, good speakers. Closer is more intimate and sounds better on good ...
