It's sounds like he's using sidechaining to me

I doubt he's high passed the bass that much either. Just careful use of EQ add choice frequencies whilst taming them in the opposing instrument. Plus good choice of sounds/samples fit nicely together in the first place.

Often when I'm using a sine wave I'll compliment it with a high pass filtered organ/real bass sound, etc

just to get an extra bit of harmonic content whilst keeping it sounding pretty organic.

You'll wanna make sure your sine wave is in the sub frequencies and EQ it off the kick part so that you dont end up with a muddy low end :)

I think that simply writing up data with no relation to an example piece wouldn't really answer any questions at all. If people are having problems with phase simply applying the "right" widening techniques or panning things "correctly" isnt going to help. Its about understanding...

There should be car mixes and club mixes on all releases....because it is definitely all about the fat sub sine waves on the big speakers. :)
