I'd avoid inputs 1/2 on the Presonus since they are guitar impedances, other than that I'd just use the TRS of the nuetriks. No need for a DI box unless you are running very long cables.

You could just get a Acidlab Miami and a x0xb0x. If it was profitable for Roland to make reissues of analog gear then I'm sure they would. My guess is the manufacturing costs for an 808 would be very high compared with a low parts count digital gear. You would end up with a high cost/low volume prod...

I love sampling from youtube. I end up filtering and processing stuff so if it's a little lofi then it doesn't matter. It really depends on the context of the sample in your tune.

I'm not familiar with the recordings you mention, you got some youtube links? I use a metal zone guitar pedal for distorting synths. It's got a parametric EQ which helps to dial in a sound. I haven't heard any software distortions that I like.

I recently found an old studiomaster 16-8-2 mixer going really cheap so I snapped it up. I didn't think I would use it much but I've found I use it all the time. Driving the inputs hard on an analogue mixer has a certain sound that I haven't been able to get with my audio interface alone. It's kinda...

You can get good deals on mc-202's if you keep an eye out. They can do a lot of what a 101 can do. I've got one that I modded out with a bunch of CV inputs and I probably use it more than my 101.

You can get some great watery sounds by recording yourself blowing in a straw into a glass of water. Then pitch it down and fiddle around with it. Filling a tub with water is useful for getting those lapping wave sounds. There is a story that a very popular "sounds of waterfalls" meditatio...
