well for me the sequencer of choice is definitely cubase

and the vsti i like most and use very often are

psp nitro, psp lexicons, antares filter, ni reaktor, ni absynth, waves, arturia minimoog, arturia cs-80v (tip!), and an awesome freeware tape delay (here .. also tip!)
