Re: Jazzy Arp Lines

I don't know a lot about Minilogue, but a lot of Mathew Jonson's sequences/arps have a lot of motion to them because he's working the controls of the SH-101 in real time to adjust the sound. Another trick to try is to send the melody sequence to an aux track that has, say, a sharp cutoff HP filter b...

Re: Freerotation 2013

in addition to the above I stumbled across this recording of Surgeon's ambient set, which is very very nice I must say. https://soundcloud.com/dynamic-tension/surgeonfreerotation2013 No dreary industrial drones, just colourful, uplifting psychedelia. This is ace, thank you for posting this. Two pla...

Re: How to get the Donato Dozzy Underwaterish Acid Sound

I'm a huge fan of Dozzy. Perhaps someone could shed any insight into the sorts of techniques he might be using in his more ambient/spacious tracks? So much space and depth to them, but with a certain clearness to the sound. A few examples: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dzfHcKY7WRc http://www.youtub...

Re: Nord Rack X2... caveat emptor

I've had a 2X since 2008 and it's been rock solid. Sounds like your friend just got a fluke unit, unfortunately.

Re: How to create this Aril Brikha synth

From what I've gathered, Aril Brikha's synth setup circa Deeparture in Time was predominantly (exclusively?) an Ensoniq SQ-80, Novation Bass Station, and a Korg 03/W. So I'm guessing that on this track that the SQ-80 is doing the chords, the bass station is on bass duties, and the Korg is providing ...

Re: Shed Interview: 'No hardware anymore'

Perhaps it's worth mentioning that Shed has said before that he doesn't go into the studio unless he has an idea for a track ahead of time. In light of this, it makes sense that a software-only setup would suit him just fine. My own experience has been that the hands on aspect of hardware helps stim...

If you get an SH-101, be aware that it doesn't have MIDI, but rather CV. You're going to need a good MIDI to CV converter in order to use the 101 live. Trying to program/trigger the arpeggiator seems like too much of a a pain in the ass in a live situation to be practical.
