http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h8G0LrRrEg4 Man, even with youtube encoding, the sequenced sound in this one just sounds so.... smooth, and unabrasive. The strings he plays over it are from the Prophet 5 VST on his computer (you can see this at the very end of the video) and sound ridiculously thin ...

I have the slowest of all MacBooks, the plain jane 1.83 ghz Core Duo white plastic one. http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/macbook/stats/macbook_1.83.html I maxed out its ram to 2 gb, but Logic still redlines the CPU pretty much constantly on any track with a reasonable number of channels and plu...

I wouldn't get the G5, by now it's a 4 year old machine and pretty slow. I'm pretty sure your Macbook can handle about the same amount of plugins through Logic, not incl. the benefits from faster hard drive and more RAM (aka large sample libraries). Well, I'm starting to think that I'd benefit from...

Alright guys help me out because I'm a bit torn here. I currently produce primarily ITB in Logic. I'm using a MacBook laptop, which is limiting in that I have a Firewire port, and that's it. No room for PCI expansions or anything like that. The r16 would do two things for me: first, it would give me...

Well I've also looked at the Zed 24, but bear in mind that you'll need some kind of interface with 20 analog outputs in order to put a zed 24 to full use. I use a Macbook with firewire and I cannot find any audio interface that has this many outputs (I don't think a firewire interface with that man...

Not that I know of. Sending multiple signals into a computer while retaining reasonable quality takes a lot of bandwidth. Usb 3.0 is supposed to surpass firewire, but if you're talking about just a regular old USB port you plug your mice and keyboards into, then I don't think there's much available...

Now I'm really torn on what to get. I really would like to incorporate an analog mixer into my setup, and the r16 is really the most practical choice because my sole computer is a MacBook, and I haven't come across any firewire interfaces that have more than 10 analog i/o. But on the other hand I'm ...
