Re: hardware track projects

Like others have mentioned here I just don't sweat stuff I used to. I don't worry about everything sounding the same. In fact I've become so hooked on live techno recording that my last "I don't know how many" releases are all one take jams with a few small bar-long or note-long edits where I may ha...

Re: drum machine+sequencer....

Got a machinedrum recently and it's just awesome IMO, really inspiring to use in a live way - not that I have mastered it yet ( far from it ) but if you like the way it sounds ( analog it isn't ) you'll just love it, the sequencer is a breeze and so inspirational when you realise the potential. Re: Aynbody have a Machinedrum?

I have one and love it. I use it on every track I do. I have never noticed that it sounds thin or sterile. Digital? Yes, but that doesn't always add up to clinical or sterile IMO. The key to getting big kicks on the MD is knowing how to mix... the sounds are capable of more interrelationship than th...

Re: How much of a difference does mastering make in techno?

Thanks for the links Patrick! Very enlightening. Does anyone else feel like chiming in? If you've had your tracks mastered, did you feel there was a big difference when comparing with the unmastered version? for me no. i always attend mastering sessions, and the engineer usually doesnt do very much...

Re: Playing live without a laptop

Hmm, I can't rightly say Octatrack is a replacement for Ableton. It depends on how you use Ableton. Its definitely a replacement for me because I hated using Ableton and always wanted a box like the Octatrack for studio and live use. As to how much audio you can load into it, I forget, but it works ...

i get a nice feeling when someone says "i was feeling that"... and I think people who don't get much exposure need to get a bit of reassurance and honest criticism, and for that, I think soundcloud has it's place. Yeah I might be heavy handed on my last post. I do like to share the vibe with people...
