the idea is make the kick part of the bass melody. for that you need a kick that sounds ok with your bass.
you can sidechain the bass with the kick, but not too much, only the right amount

Try to make sounds with the operator, its a very useful synth. changing the waveform and the parameters you can get really nice glichy sounds.
