I semi master my tracks (light compression/limiting) before i send it to any label to be mastered for vinyl, need to leave some headroom for the mastering engineer though so be carefull not to overdo it as your final mix may sound over compressed. I auditioned some mackies against my krk's not sure which they were but they cost £1200, and the krk's sounded better all round, much clearer bottom end, could feel the bass they got that deep. I'd say go audition em both, that way you'll know for sure which is best for you.
