I heard melodyne has a different technology/approach to pitching sounds. Not sure though, as I never used it personnally. You should look into it. Melodyne is a very cool and powerful technology, but, as with most tools like this, if you push it out of its sweet spot, it can start to sound very str...

To do this properly, you need to multisample whatever it is you want to play up and down the keyboard. A single sample will get pitched up and down as you go, creating the kind of sound you say doesn't work very well. What I mean by multisample: Say you have a synth you want to sample. You record th...

Couple of ways to solve this. Your bottom end ( <150) should probably stay mono. Layer a mono subbier kick and a stereo mid/click one. Reverb (as already mentioned) is another way. Once you know what all the instruments do and how to best use them, you have a good grounding to inform yourself in terms of other purch...

@steevio: Thanks for the kit list. Very helpful.

I guess Euro is the way to go. Certainly lots more research to do. I guess I can always expand to Blacet very easily.

Having read all of that, yes, there can be a difference. Comp samplers reproduce what you put into them. The EMU stuff was always good kit. The E4X are kind of the pinnacle of hw samplers. Always a very refined sound. Very flexible and precise. If you want dirt, probably not so good. If you want a c...
