i just listened to the clips from rasmus hedlund's upcoming "pacific" on iron box. holy crap! "bombardment" is aptly titled. that track is kiiiilling me! the entire porject is amazing. definitely look for this one when it comes out.

i've played with alienware's laptops a few ties. yeah -- hot and heavy, but there's seemingly no end to what you can throw at them. ran reaktor, kontact, absynth 3, and korg legacy inside fl studio, with live open in the background, and never went over 60% cpu!

maetrik rocks. rarely a mp3j set goes by that his stuff doesn't make it in. as far as minimal music goes, c'mon... cycles, tns-3, thickening, et al? maetrik just plain does great music, and has enough minimal to be applicable to this site. and you know everyone on here steps it up whenever they play...

definitely go with a fast p4m-based system (not centrino). my two-year old, 5lb gateway still screams. i run fl studio with multiple instances of kontakt, battery, absynth, and korg legacy as vsts, and live on top of that for vocals, and guitar -- all at the same time. don't sweat battery issues. ch...
